Agency Background: The Minnesota Board on Aging was established in 1956 as the Governor’s Council on Aging. The board consists of 25 members. The board’s mission is to represent the needs and interests of older Minnesotans to the Governor, Legislature, state agencies, and others in Minnesota and to administer the Older Americans Act and state programs to meet the needs and support the independence of older persons in the state. The board is staffed by the Department of Human Services’ employees.
